Dr. Simon Schafheitle is an Assistant Professor for Human Resource Management and Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for High Tech Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. He earned a PhD in Management from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) in 2020, specializing in the architecture of 21st-century workplaces as composites of employees’ trust and datafication-technology controls.
Simon currently serves as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Trust Research, where he collaborates with Antoinette Weibel and Guido Möllering in hosting a Special Issue that aims at delving into the intricate dynamics of trust and vulnerability. His research endeavors encompass exploring the impact of technology on organizational control, as well as investigating the shifts and modifications in human trust relationships within digital work settings. Noteworthy accolades include the Schmalenbach Award, recognizing the exceptional rigor, innovativeness, and practical impact of his dissertation, and the Wolfgang Heilmann Award (together with Antoinette Weibel), acknowledging his significant contribution to the human utilization of IT in the workplace.
